The Speculative Literature Foundation (SLF) is pleased to announce the formation of its San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) Chapter. The charter of the SFBA Chapter is to carry on the purpose of the SLF with a more regional focus. The SLF aims to encourage promising new writers, assist established writers, facilitate the work of quality magazines and small presses, and develop a greater public appreciation of speculative fiction.
The SFBA Chapter will initially offer programming that alternates between providing SFBA speculative fiction writers with a space to generate new writing and professional development via panels and Q&As on publishing and expert knowledge topics. These meetings will take place monthly on third Sundays, at 2 pm PT. Check the Events tab for our currently scheduled events.
The SFBA Chapter also seeks to support the already existing speculative fiction networks in the San Francisco Bay Area by creating a comprehensive calendar listing of all genre-related events in the area and by seeking to promote collaboration between these organizations. Community is essential in sustaining the work of our writers. If you are a creator, publisher, or supporter of speculative fiction and would like to take part, we’d love to have you. Chapter membership is free of charge, and you can join our chapter by joining our new Meetup group. A Facebook group and the community calendar of events is coming soon.
This chapter is chaired by Jasmine H. Wade, Rebecca Gomez Farrell, and Audrey T. Williams.
