The Speculative Literature Foundation is pleased to announce Vineetha Mokkil as the winner of the 2024 A.C. Bose Grant. Mokkil’s winning piece is called “No One Has To Know and Other Stories.”

Older Writers Grant opens for submissions May 1
The Speculative Literature Foundation will be accepting applications for the 2024 Older Writers Grant from May 1 through May 31, 2024. Since 2004, the $1,000 Older Writers Grant has been awarded annually to writers who are at least fifty years of age at the time of application to assist such writers who are just starting to work at a professional level.

Call for jurors
The SLF needs jurors to serve on our grant award panels! Jurors receive a $50 honorarium and a year free of Photon-tier SLF membership. Email grants@speculativeliterature.org to learn more and apply.

Co-writing opportunities
The SLF hosts regular Saturday co-writing sessions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT. These sessions are for writers who would like support for their writing, and are currently open and free of charge to anyone interested in being a part of our writing community.

Opportunities for writers

Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop (July 1-7, 2024): Launch Pad is a workshop for established writers, editors and creative professionals held at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Launch Pad aims to provide a “crash course” for the attendees in modern astronomical science through lectures, activities, discussion and observation. There will be a charge of $199 for the event that includes food and lodging at the University. Learn more and apply at launchpadworkshop.org.
