Call for artists - SLF Illustration of the Year 2025 |
The Speculative Literature Foundation announces an open call for original artwork combining fantasy and science fiction themes to be featured as its 2025 Illustration of the Year.
The winning artist will receive $750.00. The winning artwork will be featured on the SLF’s website, monthly e-newsletter and social media accounts and used as a visual element of SLF’s marketing material and swag throughout the year.
The deadline for submission is Jan. 15, 2025.

A.C. Bose Grant opens Jan. 1 |
Submissions for the A.C. Bose Grant, named in memory of SFF fan Ashim Chandra Bose, will be accepted Jan. 1-30, 2025.
This $1,000 grant is awarded annually to a South Asian or Desi diaspora
writer developing speculative fiction. |

The SLF hosts regular Saturday co-writing sessions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central. These sessions are for writers who would like support for their writing, and are currently open and free of charge to anyone interested in being a part of our writing community.
These sessions are a great time to catch up on the writing you’ve been meaning to do, in the supportive presence of others doing the same. |

The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA, invites applications for its 2025-26 Writing Fellowship, which is open to writers in the emerging stages of their careers. The 2025 Future Worlds Prize for Fantasy and Science Fiction Writers of Colour is open to submissions from unpublished writers of color based in the UK. The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity will offer a two-week self-directed Science Fiction residency in Sept. 2025.Writers can take advantage of one-on-one mentorship opportunities with faculty, group discussions, and a community of artistic peers. 2025 faculty include Premee Mohamed, Ai Jiang, Amal El-Mohtar, and professional guest Ali Fisher.
