- Constructing Ideas in Physical Science: a NSF project which incorporates science fiction into a middle school physical science curriculum; a collection of the short stories generated by the project should be coming out sometime in 2004 or 2005; thanks to project writer Kelly McCullough for the pointer.
- DucKon: Lincolnwood, Illinois. Chicago-area convention, also a fund-raiser for the Golden Duck Award for Excellence in Children’s Science Fiction; they also donate money for SciTech, an interactive science museum in Aurora, IL. Generally held the first weekend in June.
- The Golden Duck Awards for Excellence in Children’s Science Fiction Literature: These consist of three cash awards given annually in the categories of Picture Book, Middle Grades (Eleanor Cameron Award), and Young Adult (Hal Clement Award). Special awards are given when appropriate. Candidates are selected from titles copyrighted in the previous year; however, exceptions may be made for titles published outside of the United States.
- The Heinlein Society: Chartered as a non-profit corporation and organized to fully qualify as an educational charity, The Heinlein Society promotes the work of Robert Heinlein through booklists, discussion groups, bibliographic endeavors, and more. Crosslisted
- The Wonder Zone anthology series: edited by Julie Czerneda, a series of anthologies of sf stories, each aimed at a particular public school grade in which the science in each story is taken from the actual science curriculum for that grade (for Ontario, Canada schools); also available are supporting teaching guides for each anthology that explain the science in the story. Covering grades 4-6 thus far.
